MILWAUKEE - Preparations were in high gear Wednesday morning for the arrival of President Barack Obama at the Air National Guard station near General Mitchell International Airport in Milwaukee.
However, there are changes from previous plans when the President arrives.
Governor Scott Walker was expected to greet President Obama at the airport.
However, the Journal Sentinel says that Governor Scott Walker is ill with "a stomach bug" and will not accompany the President to a speech at Master Lock on the city's north side.
The paper also reports that Democrats accused Walker of potentially skipping out because of potential questions from reporters concerning the current John Doe investigation into former Walker staff members when he was Milwaukee County Executive.
Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett was ready to greet Mr. Obama at the airport.
"I'm going to greet him warmly. I'm going to meet him at the airport and hope to travel with him to Master Lock," said Mr. Barrett.
The last time Air Force One touched down in Wisconsin was a little more than a year ago.
The President, a Bears fan, flew into Green Bay shortly after the Packers beat Chicago in the 2010 NFC Championship Game.
He visited several businesses in Manitowoc, Wis.
Walker and Green Bay Mayor Jim Schmitt gave Mr. Obama several Packers jerseys.
"I am not here because I lost a bet," said Mr. Obama at the Manitowoc event.
"I just want to be clear about that. I have already gotten three Green Bay jerseys. I mean, I've only been on the ground for a hour!"
