Memorial for Brown Deer teacher murdered in Illinois
BROWN DEER - A man from Brown Deer was to be remembered by his hometown Thursday.
Shaun Wild was killed over the weekend while trying to break up a bar fight near Chicago.
His memorial service has been scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at Brown Deer High School.
Those who grew up with him were in shock, and his family and friends call his murder senseless.
"I've known Shaun since kindergarten," explained Andrew Schwark, a friend of Wild's.
"It's a horrific crime. It just shouldn't have happened to Shaun."
Wild, 24, was an elementary school teacher in Naperville, Ill.
He was killed during a bar room brawl there last weekend.
"I think he got stabbed...he's bleeding," said someone in a 911 call from the incident.
Investigators say Wild intervened in a fight between his friend and another man, Daniel Olaska, at the bar.
They say Wild's friend picked on Olaska for drinking beer out of a wine glass.
According to police, Olaska fought back, pulled a knife out and stabbed Wild in the chest.
Olaska has been charged with Wild's murder.
"Why him? There's no reason for it," explained Creighton Schwark, a friend of Wild's.
