Former Walker staff member expected to plead guilty Tuesday
MILWAUKEE - A former staff member for then-Milwaukee County Executive Scott Walker has been scheduled to enter a courtroom on Tuesday.
The Journal Sentinel reports Darlene Wink is expected to plead guilty after being charged with political solicitation by a public employee.
The plea was apparently in exchange for prosecutors recommending she pay a fine and not receive jail time.
The court proceedings stem from a John Doe investigation into former Walker staffers.
Wink, 61, worked as a constituent coordinator for Walker.
She faces accusations of doing campaign work while on the county's dime, allegedly posting pro-Walker messages online during work time.
Wink is one of four Walker aides charged in the John Doe investigation.
She was scheduled to head to court at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Walker was expected to meet with prosecutors this week to discuss the case.
"We've been cooperating with them through our campaign for more than a year now. Ultimately, this is the next step in terms of our cooperation," said Walker.
Neither Walker nor the Milwaukee County District Attorney's office said when the meeting would take place.
