State Sen. Galloway recall organizers turn in signatures
MADISON- More than 21,000 signatures have been submitted to force a recall election of Republican state Sen. Pam Galloway of Wausau.
Recall organizers submitted the signatures Tuesday. Organizers need at least 15,647 to be valid for an election to be scheduled. They said their count represents 134 percent of the signatures required to force a recall election.
The Government Accountability Board will begin reviewing those signatures and others submitted on petitions to recall three other Republican senators, Gov. Scott Walker and Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch.
Galloway issued a statement criticizing the recall efforts. She vowed to make sure the collected signatures are valid. Democrats need to pick up one seat in the Senate to have the majority.
