Suspect in custody in deadly Sheboygan Walmart shooting
SHEBOYGAN - The Sheboygan Police Department had a "person of interest" Monday morning in connection with a deadly shooting in a Walmart parking lot, the Department confirmed.
"Officers responded to the Wal-Mart at 3711 S. Taylor Dr. at approximately 12:30 Sunday morning for a report of two males who had been injured by gunfire," Sheboygan Police said in a news release Sunday.
"Officers arrived and found a 20 year old male from Milwaukee and a 21 year old male from Sheboygan who had both sustained critical injuries after being struck by gunfire."
The 20-year-old died of his injuries at St. Nicholas Hospital, while the 21-year-old is in critical condition at Froedtert Hospital in Wauwatosa.
"Officers were able to determine that a confrontation occurred outside the store that resulted in a male party, not associated with the two victims, discharging a firearm towards them and two of their male companions."
A store employee told TODAY'S TMJ4 her co-workers were on edge Sunday.
"A bunch of them were pretty scared to come to work. They weren't sure what to expect. I know a bunch of people who worked on third shift. They were really scared and shaken up," said Walmart employee Jennifer Vanstelle.
A spokeswoman from Walmart said they were working with police, and offered their thoughts and prayers to the families of the victims.
