One month-old girl dies in co-sleeping incident
MILWAUKEE - A one month-old girl died after co-sleeping with three other children early the morning of New Year's Eve, the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office confirmed Tuesday.
According to the medical examiner's report, Brandi N. Gilmore was "sleeping with three other children on two crib mattresses on the living room floor."
Gilmore's 22 year-old aunt was watching her and the other children until 4:30 Saturday morning, when she passed them off to Gilmore's 10 year-old aunt.
"At approximately 9:47 a.m...the 22-year-old aunt came out to the living room to check on the children and noticed that [Gilmore] was lying supine next to the 10-year-old aunt and was unresponsive."
She called 911, but Gilmore was pronounced dead a half hour later.
An investigation into her death is ongoing.
