MILWAUKEE - National League MVP Ryan Braun has reportedly tested positive for a performance enhancing drug.  ESPN is reporting that he could face a 50-game suspension next season.

The 28-year-old outfielder is disputing the result, which revealed he has elevated levels of testosterone in his body.

A spokesperson for Braun released a statement that reads, in part, "There are highly unusual circumstances surrounding this case which will support Ryan's complete innocence and demonstrate there was absolutely no intentional violation of the program."

The Brewers have issued a statement, saying that the team has not yet been contacted by Major League Baseball and that "Braun has a right to be heard."

If Braun's 50-game suspension stands, it will start at the beginning of the 2012 season.

Braun signed a five-year extension for $105 million last April.
