MILWAUKEE- Governor Walker joined Wisconsin's Afternoon News with John Mercure on Tuesday to discuss the recall effort that has been launched against him.

Walker was asked by John Mercure if he expected to see that a recall launched on the first day possible.

"No I didn't," said the Governor. He did point out that the website recallscottwalker.com started before he took office, so there were precursors for this movement.

Walker said he has to be prepared for the possible recall and will continue to work on keeping campaign promises. He said he spent Tuesday announcing the addition of jobs in Racine County.

"We made promises about balancing the budget without raising taxes, doing it in a way for the people in the state to create more jobs. Still protecting our seniors, our needy families and doing a lot to protect and improve public education," Walker told Wisconsin's Afternoon News.

Walker said it strikes him as odd that people want to recall him for campaign promises he's made and fulfilled. 

The Governor pointed out that the constant election cycle is a concern. He stated, "The happiest people (at Wisconsin's State Fair this past year) weren't Republicans or Democrats, they were people who didn't have to watch more negative ads on TV."

Walker said the fiscal bureau projects is costs up to 10 million dollars in state recalls in taxpayer money alone.

He said he will spend this recall talking about his reforms the plans for future and more ways to bring the state forward.

Walker stated he wished he spent more time explaining the need for making these reforms around the election for Governor.

He pointed out that Wisconsin didn't have massive layoffs for public workers or massive tax increases like other states around the country including Illinois.

The Governor said that the public sector and private sector need to work together in Wisconsin.
