City/County tree lighting set for Thursday at Red Arrow Park

MILWAUKEE- Mayor Tom Barrett, County Executive Chris Abele, Alderman Joe Dudzik and members of the Sullivan family will flip the switch to light up this year's City/County Christmas Tree at exactly 5:15 p.m. on Thursday, November 17th at Red Arrow Park.
This year's tree lighting ceremony will feature American Idol's Naima Adedapo. Local comedian, John McGivern will serve as master of ceremonies.
Activities will begin at 4:30 p.m. and will open up with the Salvation Army Brass Ensemble directed by Martin Rowden. Costumed characters from the Milwaukee Rep's "A Christmas Carol" will perform Olde English carols.
Santa will be on hand to hear Christmas wishes and Naima Adedapo, 2011 American Idol finalist, and a Milwaukee native, will perform Christmas songs and some of her repertoire.
Mayor Tom Barrett and County Executive Chris Abele will offer holiday greetings and Mary Dowell, Director of Global Community Relations, Johnson Controls, will comment on the sponsorship of the City County Tree Lighting by her company.
Alderman Dudzik will introduce the Sullivan family who donated their tree for the event.
This year's City County Tree Lighting ceremony is sponsored by Johnson Controls, Milwaukee County Parks, Starbucks, Milwaukee Downtown, Keep Greater Milwaukee Beautiful and the City of Milwaukee. Starbucks will serve hot chocolate to keep the crowd warm.
