Dashcam video of State Fair mob attacks released
WEST ALLIS - After making several requests over the last two months, the West Allis Police Department finally released more information about their response to the state fair mob attacks, including dash cam video of the chaos.
In the video, you can see police officers pour into the area near the state fair grounds after mobs of teenagers punched, kicked, and terrorized anyone in their way.
One officer is seen trying to arrest a teenager who seems to fight back. They scuffle out of the frame, but you can hear shouting.
"Get down! Get down," yelled the officer.
11 people were injured that night, including Matt Horner who was punched in the face.
"I was struck in the left side of my face," he said.
He and his wife were walking to their car when a group of teens attacked him.
"At that point, I knew just to get out of there and get away as fast as possible," he said.
Police arrested dozens of people.
"It was surprising to see because we didn't know what was going on," said Ralph Gajewski who lives near state fair park.
Gajewski and his wife were woken up by all the action outside their doors. Squad cars and disorder littered their neighborhood street. Now, he and his wife plan to move, in large part, because of it.
"There's no need for that. None at all, where you can't feel safe sitting on your porch anymore," he said.
The State Fair, along with police, made changes after that first night, including increasing security. It seemed to work and the fair plans to make the changes permanent.
