Texas fugitive accused of kidnapping to face trial
SHAWANO, Wis. (AP) -- A fugitive from Texas accused of kidnapping a 13-year-old Wisconsin girl by deceiving her about his identity has been bound over for trial.
Prosecutors say 18-year-old Xan Boyett met the girl online and had contact with her about a year before she disappeared from her home in Shawano County Aug. 20. A criminal complaint says the girl believed Boyett was a 23-year-old man named Matthew O'Conor.
Police found the two on a bus passing through Sheboygan (sheh-BOY'-gan) the day after the girl disappeared. Authorities say Boyett is a fugitive from a Texas juvenile facility.
The Shawano Leader (http://bit.ly/mT8AUx ) says Boyett remains in jail on $100,000 cash bond. His attorney, Ron Haacke, says there's no evidence the girl was taken against her will.
