SHEBOYGAN - A teenager has been charged Tuesday with homicide by drunk driving and other charges involving a hit-and-run crash that killed one of three pedestrians near Sheboygan Brat Days.

WTMJ partner station WHBL Radio in Sheboygan says that Kayla Bower, 19, could face up to 78 years in prison if she is convicted on all charges.

According to the criminal complaint which WHBL cites, Bower had gone drinking at Brat Days, got behind the wheel, made a U-turn and then crashed into the three pedestrians.

Police say 60-year-old Barbara Janke was killed when she, her daughter and another woman were struck while crossing the street in the crosswalk.

Bower apparently told police she didn't see them, and when she discovered a crash happened, she became frightened and drove away before abandoning her car.

Janke was taken by helicopter to a Green Bay hospital where she died about 10 p.m. Monday. The other two women were treated for injuries at a local hospital.
