Opening day of State Fair brings fried food, Clydesdales, Hammer
WEST ALLIS - As you enjoy your cream puff, fried butter and one of 70 foods on a stick, you might hear the call to "Stop! Hammer time!"
That unusual combination will come your way Thursday as the Wisconsin State Fair opens at State Fair Park.
In a flashback to the rap scene around 1990, M.C. Hammer will play the main stage, along with Tone Loc and Young M.C.
They'll appear amongst Clydesdales, pig races and the other traditions of the fair.
People who give two non-perishable food items between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. get in for $2 today. The food will go to the Hunger Task Force.
Former Green Bay Packers will also sign autographs at the fair on Thursday, starting at 11:00 a.m.
Newsradio 620 WTMJ will be broadcasting live throughout much of the State Fair, while TODAY'S TMJ4 will give live reports as well during many of its newscasts.
The Milwaukee County Transit System is also offering many special transportation options for fair-goers.
