Cement truck crashes into house in Village of Rochester
VILLAGE OF ROCHESTER - A woman living in a house in the Village of Rochester was brought to a hospital in Racine County after a cement truck crashed into her house.
"It's pretty incredible," said Sandi Bieneman, who lives a block away from the scene of the crash on the 300 block of Rochester Street in the Village of Rochester.
She described the damage from a cement truck slamming into a house Tuesday morning.
"The whole side of the house is pretty much damaged," said Sandy. "It went through the siding and the drywall."
The Racine County Sheriff's Department says a woman was sent to the hospital.
"I don't think she's critically injured, because she was sitting up in the back of the (emergency vehicle)."
The driver of the truck was also hurt.
According to sheriff's officials, the driver was going north on Rochester Street and turning right.
He believes that the left front tire of the truck blew out. He lost control and the truck swerved off the road and sideswiped the home.
Rochester Street was closed as crews cleaned up the scene of the crash. Sandy's brother-in-law encountered that closure.
"He called us and said 'Wow, what happened on your street? The whole siding of the house is just ripped off."
Investigators are looking into more details of the crash.
