Another Nativity Scene ControversyBARABOO, Wis. (AP) -- Another community is dealing with a constitutional issue over its nativity scene that sits on public property. A resident in Baraboo has lodged a complaint with the Sauk County Board over the nativity scene that sits outside the downtown courthouse. The resident says the decoration violates the separation of church and state. Downtown Baraboo president Todd Wickus says in the 13 years he's owned his toy store, the only complaint he's ever gotten about the nativity scene was that it wasn't put up on time. Freedom From Religion Foundation co-president Dan Barker says the county board needs to reconsider it's decision to keep the religious decoration outside the courthouse. Baker says the county shouldn't be using its resources or property to promote one religious viewpoint. County Supervisor Al Dippel says he would be open to adding decorations from other religions to the courthouse property. Green Bay and Peshtigo are also dealing with constitutional objections to their nativity scenes on public property. ------ Information from: WISC-TV, http://www.channel3000.com (Copyright 2007 by The Associated Press.
