School district to spend $63k for teacher iPads
FOND DU LAC, Wis. (AP) -- The North Fond du Lac School District will spend $63,000 to buy iPads for all teachers, administrators and board members.
The Board of Education voted last week to approve the initial purchase of 110 iPads. Superintendent Aaron Sadoff says the district opted to forgo the purchase of new textbooks and curriculum material, and instead invest in the future.
The iPads will be equipped with WiFi capabilities so there won't be a monthly Internet service charge.
The Reporter in Fond du Lac (http://bit.ly/mk5mCr ) says teachers will be able to access university lectures and other online teaching services, as well as project information onto a whiteboard.
Sadoff says the plan to give students from kindergarten through 12th grade access to an iPad, iPod or laptop by fall 2012.
