Thompson: 'Beyond mildly interested' in Senate seat
MILWAUKEE - Former Gov. Tommy Thompson says he's 'beyond mildly interested' in running for U.S. Senate and regrets not running for Sen. Feingold's seat in 2010.
Thompson tells Newsradio 620 WTMJ's John Mercure he's putting together a statewide team and is currently investigating how much money he could raise.
"I'm very serious," he told Mercure in a telephone interview. "I want to do it. We'll see."
Thompson blamed a recent trip to Japan for his absence at the state GOP convention in the Wisconsin Dells.
Listen to Newsradio 620 WTMJ's "Wisconsin's Afternoon News" for more details, beginning at 3:00 p.m. Monday.
