As if I could hype this game up any more than it already has been, suffice it to say the Packers and Cowboys have a storied history, from the Ice Bowl to epic playoff battles in the 90's to what's being called one of the Packers' biggest regular season games ever, tonight's Duel in Dallas.
But deep in the heart of Dallas, we've found a bar where it's safe to wear a Packers hat, a saloon where you can hoot and holler "Go Pack Go" without reservation.
It's Vernon's, the rootinest, tootinest Packers bar in Cowboys country, and Vernon's GM Gary Kirlin explains, someone from Wisconsin started the green-and-gold tradition there.
"It started probably about 12 to 14 years ago with an old bartender that was just working weekends just on a whim, and he was from Wisconsin," explained Kirlin.
"He talked to some of the Packers faithful and they just started coming in and it just built each year to this point."
Packers fanaticism grows each and every week at Vernon's.
"We've got the bar decorated out," says Kirlin.
"We've got green and yellow tablecloths laid out, and some cheeseheads laying around. We do a brat special with Wisconsin brats.
"Every TV is geared to the Packers. The house is filled with Packers fans. There's no sense in playing any other games."
That's not entirely true. One TV in the corner is usually on a contest Packers fans also care about.
"(It's on) a divisional game," admits Gary. "They're watching the Bears, the Lions and the Vikes to see who's beating up on them."
Such devotion from the 150 to 200 loyal Packers backers always impresses Gary.
"They could be 4-12 or 12-4 and I still have the same group here," states Kirlin.
And you'd better believe they'll be there tonight, for the biggest game all season.
"I've got people who have been calling all week asking 'when do I need to get here?' and I've been telling them 'early,' " says Gary.
With a full house of Packers backers deep in the heart of Texas, Gary had to question just which of tonight's opponents really is America's Team.
"Each venue has its own. Vernon's is definitely Packers, and we're happy with it."
Us, too.
