MILWAUKEE - Dozens of National Guard troops were responding to the governor's emergency declaration in the state.

National Guard Lt. Col. Jackie Guthrie says the troops are trained to do just about anything on days like this.

She says 75 guard members were prepping Tuesday night.

"The National Guard is always ready. In any type of state emergency, whether it (is) a blizzard, a flood, a tornado, we answer the call to assist local authorities with whatever they need."

Guthrie said some of the things local government and law enforcement agencies may need help with are health and welfare checks in neighborhoods, delivering food and water to people and helping rescue stranded motorists.

She explained they will be on call as long as they are needed.
