MILWAUKEE - The Milwaukee Public Schools has decided to keep its doors open for classes despite the heavy snowfall on Tuesday.

"We ask drivers to be cautious, watching for children who are on foot or who are waiting for buses," said Roseann St. Aubin in a statement.

"Students should be dressed warmly. That means they should wear boots, mittens, hats and scarves in addition to their winter coats."

She said that she would offer updates if MPS makes changes due to the weather system comingin later this afternoon.

The Northern Ozaukee School District was one of others who chose to close.
