Grienke, Uecker Appear At 'Brewers On Deck 2011'

MILWAUKEE - While there is so much talk about the Packers this week, there certainly is a lot of off-season excitement about the Milwaukee Brewers. Thousands of fans attended Brewers On Deck 2011 at the Frontier Airlines Center on Sunday.

There was a loud welcome for newly signed pitchers Zach Grienke and Shaun Marcum.

Season ticket holder Jack Zemlicka believes the Brewers have a good chance of making the playoffs. When asked what the difference will be this season, he said "it's definitely going to be the pitching."

Cheers were replaced with jeers after a fan asked Grienke who he wants to win the Super Bowl.

"I like the Steelers," he said.

Marcum disagreed.

"I think I'm going to disagree with Zach and go with the Packers," Marcum said.

Owner Mark Attanasio is certainly following Green Bay's success.


"I'm counting on some of the Packer's karma rubbing off on us," Attanasio told TODAY'S TMJ4 reporter Tom Murray.

Fans paid as much as $20 for Brewers On Deck tickets this year and a few bucks more for a premium autograph.

"This is one of the few opportunities you have to be right next to the players and get their autographs," one fan said.

Sunday was was also the first time most fans saw colorful play-by-play voice Bob Uecker after he underwent an off-season heart procedure.

"Cardiologists, they did a great job, I had a little problem, but, I'm ready to go," Uecker said. "I'm ready to rock n roll."

The Brewers open the 2011 season on the road at Cincinnati on Saturday, April 2. The first home game is on Monday, April 4 against the Atlanta Braves.
