GREEN BAY - In beating the Chicago Bears in Sunday's NFC Championship Game, the Green Bay Packers made themselves a powerful enemy: America's first fan.
President Barack Obama said last week that if his Bears won the NFC title, he would attend the Super Bowl at Cowboys Stadium. Of course, they didn't and he won't.
Packers cornerback Charles Woodson used that as motivation after the game, shouting "The President don't want to come see us! Let's go see him!"
The President, meanwhile, will visit Manitowoc on Wednesday, and Mayor Justin Nickels hasn't yet decided whether he will greet him wearing a Packers jersey.
No, I haven't decided yet," he laughed. "I don't know if I want to upset him too much. He is the President of the United States!"
But Nickels did promise to present him with an honorary gift any cheesehead would love.
"I won't say what it is until I give it to him, but I'm sure he like it for Super Bowl Sunday!"
