SHEBOYGAN - A man from Sheboygan has gone to have his tongue re-attached at Froedtert Hospital in Wauwatosa after his wife reportedly bit off his tongue while giving him a kiss.

Karen Lueders faces 40 years in prison if convicted for a charge connected to intentional mutilation.

Willard Lueders said in a written statement that he went to kiss his wife Karen goodnight while she was on the toilet.

That's when his wife, who is in her 50's, bit his tongue out of his mouth and attempted to grab his private parts.

Willard Lueders called emergency workers at about 11:00 p.m. Monday, and officers could only discern that an ambulance was needed based on his ability to talk.

When police and rescue crews arrived at the home on Sheboygan's northwest side, Karen Lueders reportedly tossed coffee at them.

Note: an earlier version of this story had listed an incorrect name of Karen Lueders' husband.  We apologize for the error.
