House of Rep.: Baldwin Wins Re-Election
MILWAUKEE (AP) -- U.S. Rep. Tammy Baldwin of Madison has won re-election to a seventh term in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Baldwin on Tuesday defeated Republican Chad Lee of Mount Horeb in southern Wisconsin's 2nd Congressional District, which stretches from the Wisconsin Dells to Beloit.
With 49 percent of precincts reporting, Baldwin had 58 percent of the vote compared to Lee's 42 percent.
Baldwin is a liberal who ran for re-election as an effective representative for the district. The 48-year-old has been a champion of health care reform, stem cell research and gay rights but has opposed President Barack Obama's expansion of the war in Afghanistan.
Lee is a 27-year-old political novice who stressed his business background as the owner of a cleaning company.
