Honor Flights to Fly More Veterans to World War II Memorial

MILWAUKEE - The Stars and Stripes Honor Flight Program announced plans Thursday to fly two more 747s of veterans to tour the World War II Memorial in Washington D.C. this fall.

"The community in southeastern Wisconsin has really responded to our mission, which is to honor the World War II veterans, the members of the greatest generation," said Honor Flight president Joe Dean.  "The community has rallied around us in terms of time talent and treasure, and we have raised enough money to continue Operation Resolve and address this long wait list of veterans who want to see the memorials that were built in their honor."

The flights will take off from Mitchell International Airport on Sunday, September 19th and Saturday, November 6th.  More than 600 veterans have signed up and are on the group's waiting list.  In May, Honor Flight flew 296 veterans to Washington in what was by far the largest single flight in the program's history.
