North Shore Homes Burglarized
WHITEFISH BAY - Tempting as the late summer breeze may be, police are warning residents not to sleep with their ground floor windows open.
Someone burglarized at least three North Shore homes this week during overnight hours while residents were asleep, cutting away a piece of screen and gaining access through an open window in each of the crimes.
"You feel violated," a victim told TODAY'S TMJ4 reporter Tom Murray. "It's not the value of the money. It is the fact that it happened while I was sleeping and that somebody would do this in this kind of neighborhood."
Lisa Martensen lives a few doors down from a home burglarized in this frightening trend.
"It's pretty bold," Martensen said. "Residents in this area are a little too trusting."
A home in the 4400 block of Newhall Street in Shorewood was hit overnight on Thursday, according to a crime alert. The intruder made off with about $100 cash, the homeowner said.
Between 9:45 p.m. Thursday and 4:00 a.m. Friday, someone cut a screen to enter a home in the 2000 block of E. Glendale in Whitefish Bay, police reported on their website.
In a third crime, a burglar cut their way into home in the 4900 block of N. Idlewild in Whitefish Bay sometime between 11:00pm on Tuesday and 5:30am on Wednesday. Cell phones, a laptop and cash were stolen, the residents said.
Anyone with information on the suspect or suspects is asked to call Shorewood Police at 414-847-2610.
