ELKHART LAKE- The shores of the Sheboygan Marsh are serene and calm now, but those along the water's edge know that can change in a second.

"The water is running pretty fast and the water levels right now are high," said Emily Biwan.

Thursday afternoon a field trip turned into a scary lesson for some 6th graders from Sheboygan Falls Middle School. The kids were out on canoes when they got stuck in the bogs.

Mary Johnson at Three Guys Grill spoke to our anchors on Live at 4 moments after noticing the kids were in trouble. She says her co-workers jumped into action.

"They took that duck boat and they have them all in a chain, rope to rope, I can see them from the window."

In all, 10 students were pulled to the shore to safety.

"Experienced people would do fine, they were 6th graders, yeah, it may have been a little challenging first learning how to do it. The wind may have been a factor."
