620WTMJ Classic Free Ride Presented By Valenti Classics Official Rules

a. These rules (the “Official Rules”) govern the CLASSIC FREE RIDE (“Promotion”) will begin on MAY 17, 2013 AT 12:01A.M. and end on JULY 31, 2013 AT 11:59P.M.


a. The Promotion is open to all legal residents of the United States and the District of Columbia who are 18 years of age or older at the time of entry and who live in WISCONSIN.  Employees of Journal Broadcast Group, Inc., d/b/a Newsradio 620 WTMJ (the “Promoter” or “Station”), its corporate parent, subsidiary, and affiliated entities, Valenti Classics, its advertising agencies, participating sponsors/promotional partners, other broadcasting stations in the Milwaukee metropolitan area, and the members of their immediate families (spouse, parents, siblings or children) or households (whether related or not) are ineligible to participate or win.  This Promotion is subject to all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.  Void outside the United States, in NY, and where prohibited.  

b. Only one winner per household (whether related or not) is permitted in any Promoter contest.  In addition, Individuals may only win a Promoter contest  or promotion once every 60 days, and once every 6 months for prizes valued over $600 including all contests or promotions conducted by Newsradio 620 WTMJ.  Only one person per household (whether related or not) may qualify as a semi-finalist.  

c. Winner must hold a valid government-issued driver’s license and also must qualify for required automobile insurance, and present evidence of such insurance prior to the delivery of the prize.

d. Entrants are required to provide truthful information and Promoter will reject and delete any entry that it discovers to be false or fraudulent.  Promoter will disqualify any entry from individuals who do not meet the eligibility requirements, and Promoter will also delete any entry knowingly received from persons under the age of 13 in compliance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act and as otherwise required by law.


a. To participate in the Promotion, you may enter via the following method(s):

VIA REGISTER-TO-WIN EVENT – There will be 27 register-to-win events, each of which will be two (2) hours in length, held in the Milwaukee area between May 17, 2013 – July 27, 2013 administered by Newsradio 620 WTMJ.  Those register-to-win events will be held:

In order to enter the contest at a register-to-win event, each person must completely fill out an entry form, while supplies last, including their name, phone number, address, and email address and drop it into the Classic Free Ride prize box at that event. Participants must be present to submit an entry form. Limit one (1) entry per person per register-to-win event.  One person per household may only qualify as a semi-finalist once. All entries become the property of Newsradio 620 WTMJ and will not be returned.

VIA INTERNET –Visit between July 12, 2013 – July 26, 2013 and follow the links and instructions to enter and submit your first name and last name, complete address, city, state, zip code, telephone number, date of birth, and a valid email address in the online entry form.  Only one online entry is allowed per person throughout the contest period. Internet entries will be deemed made by the authorized account holder of the email address submitted at the time of entry.  The authorized account holder is the natural person who is assigned to the email address by an internet access provider, online service provider or other organization that is responsible for assigning the email address or the domain associated with the submitted email address.  Multiple entrants are not permitted to share the same email address.  Entries submitted will not be acknowledged or returned.  Use of any device to automate entry is prohibited.  Proof of submission of an entry shall not be deemed proof of receipt by Promoter. The contest administrator’s computer is the official time keeping device for the Promotion.  For purpose of this Promotion, a “Day” shall begin at 12:00:00 a.m. CT and shall end at 11:59:59 p.m. CT. On Monday, July 29, 2013, Newsradio 620 WTMJ will randomly select one (1) semi-finalist from all online entries submitted during the online entry period from July 12, 2013 – July 26, 2013.

VIA SCRATCH-OFF TICKET – After completing an entry form at a register-to-win event, each contestant will be given a scratch-off ticket with the opportunity to instantly qualify as a semi-finalist.  Scratch-off tickets will be distributed while supplies last.  A total of 10,000 scratch-off cards will be distributed and once those 10,000 cards are distributed, no further scratch-off cards will be distributed. Limit one (1) scratch card per contestant per register-to-win event.  Scratch ticket semi-finalist winners are subject to the same eligibility requirements and rules as all other methods of entry.  Seven (7) of the scratch cards will entitle the contestant to be a semi-finalist in the contest.  Scratch cards will be distributed until all cards are gone, even in the event that all seven (7) semi-finalist entry cards are awarded, unless the contest entry period ends first.


a. SEMI-FINALIST PRIZES (up to 36): Each semi-finalist will receive a commemorative Classic Free Ride T-shirt valued at approximately $20.00

b. GRAND PRIZE: One (1) Grand Prize Winner shall be awarded by Valenti Classics, which shall be a 1961 Ford Thunderbird.  Approximate Retail Value: $25,000.  Grand Prize Winner will be solely responsible for any applicable vehicle title, license and registration fees, freight, delivery, dealer prep, emissions inspection, additional equipment, all federal, state and local taxes, insurance, gasoline, vehicle maintenance, all other fees and expenses not specified herein associated with the receipt and use of the Prize.  Any additional options (including the interior and exterior color) not specified herein are subject to availability and will be the responsibility of the Grand Prize Winner.  Grand Prize Winner must provide proof of insurance and a valid driver’s license to take delivery and must take delivery from Valenti Classics by September 30, 2013.  Grand Prize is not transferable.  Grand Prize may not be substituted or redeemed for cash, except that Newsradio 620 WTMJ may, at its sole discretion, substitute prize of comparable value or cash.

The Grand Prize vehicle is provided as is.  Neither Newsradio 620 WTMJ nor Valenti Classics has made or is responsible in any manner for any warranties, representations, or guarantees, express or implied, in fact or law, relating to the Grand Prize vehicle, including without limitation, its quality, mechanical condition, merchantability, or fitness for a particular purpose.

c. SCRATCH-OFF PRIZE: Each participant that receives a scratch-off ticket could win a prize.  Of the 10,000 scratch off tickets, seven (7) tickets will qualify the entrant to be a semi-finalist with the opportunity to participate in the Grand Prize event, 1,000 tickets will qualify the entrant to win food from Quaker Steak & Lube (Approximate value: $20), 250 tickets will qualify the entrant to win a Classic Free Ride t-shirt (Approximate value: $20), and 450 tickets will qualify the entrant to win a keychain (Approximate value: $5).   The remaining scratch off tickets will not qualify the entrant to win anything.

d. All prizes are awarded as-is.  There is no substitution, transfer, or cash equivalent for prizes, except that Promoter may, at its sole discretion, substitute prizes of comparable value or cash.  The prizes are expressly limited to the item(s) listed above and do not include taxes, gratuities or any other expenses.  Promoter is not responsible for winners' limitations that prevent acceptance, use, or nonuse of prize.  Entrants acknowledge that the Released Parties, as defined herein, have not made, nor are in any manner responsible or liable for, any warranties, representations or guarantees, and hereby disclaim any and all warranties expressed or implied, in fact or in law, whether now or hereafter enacted concerning any prize, including without limitation, implied warranties of quality, merchantability, mechanical condition, or fitness for a particular purpose, except for any express manufacturer’s warranty as may be included with the prize or as may be separately provided to participants by law.  Other restrictions may apply.

e. Any prize certificates or coupons are subject to the terms and conditions as set forth by the issuer of the certificate or coupon.  Such certificates and coupons are not refundable or transferable, and may not be substituted or exchanged for cash or credit at any time, nor will such certificates or coupons be replaced if unused, lost, stolen, or damaged.  


a. All decisions of Promoter management with respect to the Promotion are final.

b. Selection of Register to Win Event Semifinalists.

One semi-finalist will be selected for each of the Register-to-Win event from among all eligible entries received during that register-to-win event. Entries from one event will not be carried over into any subsequent event or drawing.

c. Selection of Online Entrant Semifinalist.

One (1) semi-finalist will be selected by random selection from all eligible online entries received during the online entry period.

d. Selection of Scratch-Off Ticket Semifinalists.

Seven of the scratch-off tickets will qualify the entrant to be a semi-finalist.

e. Semi-finalists will be notified by telephone and must be available to participate in the 620 WTMJ Classic Free Ride Grand Prize Giveaway Event July 30, 2013 at 6:30p.m. at Valenti Classics, 9848 S. 57th Street in Franklin, WI 53132.

f. In the event Newsradio 620 WTMJ is unable to contact any semi-finalist within 5 business days from qualifying event (or shorter time if qualifying event is conducted less than 5 days prior to the Grand Prize Event), a semi-finalist is unable or unwilling to participate in the Grand Prize Event or if any semi-finalist is not compliant with these Official Rules, as determined by Newsradio 620 WTMJ in its sole discretion, then such semi-finalist will be disqualified and their place as a semi-finalist may be forfeited and, at Newsradio 620 WTMJ’s discretion, awarded to an alternate semi-finalist also selected by random drawing from all entries received in relevant qualifying event for the Event at issue (i.e., from the register-to-win event for which the disqualified semi-finalist was tentatively chosen or the online entries for the on-line semi-finalist). Two alternate semi-finalists will be selected randomly immediately after the semi-finalist for each event and kept on record, in order of selection, in the event an alternate semi-finalist is required.

g. Odds of winning .

  • Odds of being chosen as a semi-finalist at a register-to-win event depend upon the number of entries received at that register-to-win event.

  • Odds of being chosen as the semi-finalist via the online registration method depends on the number of entries received online.

  • Odds of a scratch card holder winning the opportunity to be a semi-finalist are 7 : 10,000.

  • Odds of a scratch card holder winning food from Quaker Steak and Lube are 1,000: 10,000.

  • Odds of a scratch card holder winning a Classic Free Ride t-shirt are 250: 10,000.

  • Odds of a scratch card holder winning a keychain are 450: 10,000.

h. Winner does not need to be present to win.

i. Winners (or their parent or legal guardian if under the age of majority) must execute and return any required affidavit of eligibility and/or liability/publicity release within ten (10) days of notification attempt or winner will be disqualified and their prize will be forfeited and an alternate winner may be substituted.  If a potential winner cannot be contacted, fails to complete, sign and return the required affidavit of eligibility and liability/publicity release within the required time period, or if a prize or prize notification is returned as undeliverable, potential winner will be disqualified and will forfeit the prize.

j. Unless otherwise specified in the prize notification, all prizes or prize certificates may be picked up at the office of the Promoter at the address below.  The winner will forfeit any prize or prize certificate not claimed within thirty (30) days of winning. Prize or prize certificates will not be mailed to the winner.  


a. All semi-finalists must attend the Newsradio 620 WTMJ Classic Free Ride final event July 30, 2013 at 6:30p.m. at Valenti Classics, 9848 S. 57th Street in Franklin, WI 53132. All semi-finalists must be at the event and “checked-in” with Newsradio 620 WTMJ staff, including a showing of valid government-issued ID, no later than 6:30p.m. Any semi-finalist not at Valenti Classics and checked in with the station by that time will be immediately disqualified and will not have the opportunity to win the Grand Prize. No substitute will be selected for any such semi-finalists that are not properly checked-in at the event. Semi-finalists must be present in person to win at the Grand Prize Event and may not send a substitute or representative in their place. Must be present to win.

b. At the Grand Prize Event, three (3) finalists will be determined in a random drawing from all eligible, present and checked-in semi-finalists.

c. Each of the three (3) finalists will select an envelope from the three (3) envelopes provided by Newsradio 620 WTMJ. The order in which finalists will select envelopes will be the same order in which they were determined by random drawing to be finalists. One of the three envelopes will contain the winning slip.

d. Each finalist will have a chance to open their envelope and see if the winning slip is inside.  The entrant with the envelope containing the winning slip will be declared the Grand Prize Winner and win the 1961 Ford Thunderbird, subject to verification of eligibility and compliance with the terms of these Official Rules.

e. Potential Grand Prize winner will be required to execute and return an affidavit of eligibility and liability release and (unless prohibited by law) publicity release within three (3) days of date of Grand Prize Event.  Noncompliance with this time period or with these Official Rules may result in disqualification and, at Administrator’s discretion; an alternate winner may be selected by random drawing from all remaining finalists.

f. Under no circumstances will more than one vehicle be awarded.  In the event more than one finalist appears to have won the Grand Prize, the Grand Prize winner will be randomly selected from among such finalists.


a. Payments of all federal, state and local taxes are solely the responsibility of the winners.  Winners will be required to complete and submit an IRS Form W-9 or the equivalent including the winner’s full Social Security Number for receipt of any prize valued at $600 or more or for any prizes awarded by Promoter in a calendar year with an aggregate value of $600 or more. Failure to submit a complete W-9 or equivalent will result in disqualification and forfeiture of the prize.

b. Participating in the Promotion and acceptance of any prize constitutes each entrant’s and winner’s (and guest’s where applicable) permission for the Promoter or its agents to photograph, film, record that entrant, winner ,or guest and to use his or her name, city, state, voice, or likeness, and any statements made by him or her regarding the Promotion or its sponsors for purposes of trade, publicity or promotion without additional financial or other compensation, and, where legal, to sign a publicity release confirming such consent prior to acceptance of the prize.

c. Prior to awarding any prize or prize certificate, and depending on the nature of the prize and eligibility requirements of the contest, the Promoter in its sole discretion will require verification of Promotion winner’s identification by a showing of valid government-issued photo identification.  By entering, participating and/or accepting a prize in the Promotion, each entrant, winner, and guest if applicable, agrees not to sue and to release, discharge, indemnify,  hold harmless, and absolve the Station, the Promoter, its sponsors and promotional partners, its advertising and promotion agencies and each of their respective parent, subsidiary and affiliated entities and the officers, shareholders, directors, employees, agents, and representatives and the successors and assigns of each of them (the “Released Parties”) from and against any and all claims, demands, actions, suits, losses, expenses, costs, damages, and liabilities including, without limitation, interest, penalties, court costs and reasonable attorneys’ fees and expenses arising directly or indirectly from the prize or participation in the Promotion, including, but not limited to, personal injury, death, or damage to or loss of property, which may occur in connection with, preparation for, travel to, or participation in Promotion, or possession, acceptance and/or use or misuse of prize or participation in any Promotion-related activity, including but not limited to any claims based on publicity rights, defamation, or invasion of privacy and merchandise delivery.  Promoter may require eligible Promotion winners and their guests or travel companions, if any (as well as each of their parent(s) or legal guardian(s), if winners, guests or travel companions are under the age of majority in their state of residence), to sign a liability release confirming such consent.  Except where prohibited, by entering the Promotion, each entrant agrees that: (1) any and all disputes, claims and causes of action arising out of or connected with this Promotion or any Prize (s) shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, and exclusively by state or federal courts situated in Milwaukee, WI; (2) any and all claims, judgments and awards shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred, but in no event shall such costs include attorneys' fees; and (3) no punitive, incidental, special, consequential or other damages, including, without limitation, lost profits may be awarded (collectively, "Special Damages").  Further, by entering the Promotion, each entrant waives all rights to claim Special Damages and all rights to have such damages multiplied or increased. 

d. Promoter, in its sole discretion, reserves the right to disqualify any person (and all of their entries) from this Promotion if he or she tampers with the entry process, the operation of the Promotion, or the operation of Promoter’s web channel or is otherwise in violation of the Official Rules or direction of Promoter.  Promoter further reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to modify, cancel, terminate or suspend the Promotion, or any part of it, if it is not capable of completion as planned or if any fraud, technical failures or any factor beyond the Promoter’s control, including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention or technical failures of any sort, corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of the Promotion as determined by Promoter in is sole discretion.  Any attempt by an entrant or any person to deliberately damage any Promoter web channel or to undermine the legitimate operation of this Promotion may be a violation of criminal and civil laws.  Should such an attempt be made, Promoter reserves the right to seek full prosecution and/or damages from any such individual to the fullest extent permitted by law.  Promoter’s failure to enforce any term of these Official Rules shall not constitute a waiver of this provision.  If due to circumstances beyond the control of Promoter, any competition or prize-related event or travel is delayed, rescheduled, postponed or cancelled, Promoter reserves the right, but not the obligation, to modify, suspend, or cancel the Promotion and shall not be required to award a substitute prize.

e. The Released Parties are not responsible for (i) typographical or other errors in the printing, the offering or the administration of the Promotion (including, but not limited to, the scratch-cards), or in the announcement of a prize; (ii) entries not received due to difficulty accessing the internet, service outage or delays, computer difficulties, malfunctions, disconnections, other technological failures, telephone service outages, delays, dropped calls, or busy signals; or any other difficulties that may prevent an individual from entering or participating, or (iii) lost, stolen, mangled, misdelivered, misdirected, postage due, illegible, incomplete, incorrect, or late entries.  Further, the Released Parties are not responsible if any part of a promotion prize cannot be awarded due to acts of God, acts of war, natural disaster, weather, acts of terrorism or other factors beyond the Station’s control.

f. Except where prohibited, by entering the Promotion, each entrant agrees that: (1) any and all disputes, claims and causes of action arising out of or connected with this Promotion or any Prize (s) shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action; (2) any and all claims, judgments and awards shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred, but in no event shall such costs include attorneys' fees; and (3) no punitive, incidental, special, consequential or other damages, including, without limitation, lost profits may be awarded (collectively, "Special Damages").  Further, by entering the Promotion, each entrant waives all rights to claim Special Damages and all rights to have such damages multiplied or increased. 

g. To obtain a copy of the Official Rules or a list of winners following completion of the Promotion (Classic Free Ride), send a self-addressed, stamped envelope  specifying “Official Rules” or “Winner List” to Classic Free Ride Winner List or Official Rules Request, Newsradio 620 WTMJ.  A copy of the Official Rules is also available during regular business hours at Newsradio 620 WTMJ, 720 E. Capitol Drive, Milwaukee, WI 53212.  All such requests must be received within thirty (30) days following completion of the Promotion.
