Obama, Thompson both lead by just one point in new MU law poll
MILWAUKEE - The newest Marquette University Law School poll says that President Barack Obama has a one-point lead over GOP candidate Mitt Romney, 49-48 percent.
GOP Senate candidate Tommy Thompson has a 46 to 45 percent over Democratic candidate Tammy Baldwin.
Baldwin is serving Madison in the House of Representatives, while Thompson is a former Wisconsin governor and Secretary of Health and Human Services.
The poll considers both races a statistical tie, with a margin of error of 3.4 percent.
It was conducted before the Tuesday night debate between the candidates.
The poll involved 870 people who the university calls likely Wisconsin voters.
