Well, NBC has canceled "Playboy Club", their new drama about life and love in 60's. Like other NBC affiliates, we received thousands of e-mails from people asking us to drop the show because it was "pornographic". It wasn't pornographic. It just wasn't very good. Not enough people watched it. Now it's gone. My e-mail "inbox" will be a lot lighter now.
I was reminded last night how different my wife and I are when watching sports. She will stay up until a game is over, even during a blowout, hoping for a heroic last-minute comeback. I'm more pessimistic when our teams fall behind. Not sure if this is a "male/female" thing, but I admire her optimism, even when it doesn't pan out.
I had what I thought was a good plan for attending both the Brewers and Badgers game on Saturday. My son and I attended the Brewers game through 6 innings. Then we met the rest of my family at the Goerke's Corners "Park 'n Ride" lot in Waukesha so we could head over to Madison in time to catch the game. While waiting for them to swing by to pick us up, I had my car radio on so we could keep up with the Brewers game. Turns out I forgot to turn off the radio when I locked the car and left for Madison. So, nine hours later, there I was back at the 'Park 'n Ride' with a dead battery. At least I had WTMJ radio playing in that empty car as the battery drained. Thanks to AAA and Jim's Pro-Services for the good service!
Here are a few answers to some listener and viewer questions from the past two weeks...
Yes...we pay the expenses for our staff when they travel to cover sports events.
No...NBC does not own our TV station. We are an affiliate of NBC, but the control of the station is right here in Milwaukee and programming decisions are made by local management.
Yes...we are an ABC radio affiliate on WTMJ radio even though WTMJ-TV is an NBC affiliate. That's why you hear some ABC news people on the radio. The radio and TV networks are separate enterprises.
As always, feel free to comment or drop me an e-mail if you have any questions about our stations. Thanks for watching TODAY'S TMJ4 and for listening to Newsradio 620 WTMJ and 94.5 Lake FM and for stopping by our web sites.
