Packers Great Willie Davis

  • Print

I had an amazing opportunity this afternoon to interview Packers hall of famer Willie Davis earlier today.  What an amazing guy. We had pre-scheduled an interview to discuss his new autobiography, "Closing the Gap"

It was interesting to talk to Davis today, the day after the Packers were robbed by replacement officials in Seattle. Davis won five world championships as a Packer.  He knows about tough battles on the field.  He played in more than a hundred games and has watched hundreds of others.  He told me he has never seen anything as disgraceful as what he witnessed last night.

"The Packers were cheated. (NFL Commissioner) Roger Goodell needs to do something immediately. This is ridiculous," Davis told me.  "It is completely ridiculous and embarrassing."

I read his autobiography this past weekend.  It is powerful and poignant. His recollections and stories about guys like Coach Vince Lombardi and linebacker Ray Nitschke are amazing. Davis will be in Green Bay this next weekend to sign copies of the book.  If you're headed up to Green Bay for the Packers VS Saints game, stop by and get a signed copy.
