Sen Cullen: I'll Take My Ball and Go Home

  • Print

Democratic State Senator Tim Cullen of Janesville says he will no longer caucus with fellow Democrats.  He is ticked off that he was not offered an "historically important" committee chairmanship.  He claims that new Senate Majority Leader Mark Miller is treating him and the constituents of the 15th Senate District disrespectfully.

So what Chairmanship was Cullen offered?  He was asked to head up the Committee on Small Business Development and Tourism.  He says that is not historically important. Since when is that unimportant.  Huh?  I wouldn't believe it if her hadn't it said it to me.  He said the committee the committee is historically unimportant.  Isn't small business the economic driver here in the State of Wisconsin?!  I can tell you this, many more Wisconsinites work for small family run businesses than for large players like Kohl's or Harley.  And Senator Miller calls the position he was offered unimportant.

"It was an insult to the people of the 15th Senate District. That committee is historically not important in the Senate,." he told me on Wisconsin's Afternoon News.  He went on to complain that Senator Miller, "never asked me what I wanted."

How can we expect Republicans and Democrats to get along when Democrats apparently can't get along with each other?
