Stupid Criminal Trick
The above picture and this article are from the Milwaukee Police Department Facebook page:
Bank robbery by the book - NOT! Police arrested a bank robber who made a series of bad choices this afternoon, including picking a bank across from the federal courthouse, running from the bank and in front of an Assistant Police Chief and a Lieutenant, and apparently failing to read the book found in his possession, "How to Be A Successful Criminal."
While Milwaukee Police Assistant Chief Patrick Mitchell and Lt. Scott LaFleur were driving in the downtown area early this afternoon, they heard a broadcast over the police radio regarding a bank robbery that just occurred in the 500 block of E. Wisconsin Ave. Mitchell and LaFleur spotted the subject matching the description running across the street at Broadway & Michigan, and LaFleur jumped out and tracked the suspect on foot as Mitchell followed in his unmarked squad. They called out the location and additional squads responded and made the arrest.
Found in the suspect's possession: "How to Be A Successful Criminal." No word if the book appeared to have been thumbed through.
As police around the world preface so many good cop stories, "You can't make this up!"
