I am not easily sickened or affected by terrible things in the news. I suppose, for better or worse, it is one of the side effects of being a TV news reporter for almost 20 years. I have seen or reported on almost everything you can imagine, or so I thought.
Then I read about this terrible abuse story out of Madison. You probably know the basics. A 15 year old girl was found wandering barefoot and in pajamas along the side of a road. Police say she looked like she was eight years old because she was so malnourished. It is a shocking story. I have alternated between sad and angry the last 48 hours and I can't get the story out of my head.
I am posting two things here.

And here is a way to help this young woman. If you would like to send a card or letter of support to her you can send it here. Do NOT send money. We are told she will not get it. Instead maybe you can make a donation to a group that helps abuse victims. Ok Here is the address:
