Kierra My Buckeye
As I write this blog I am watching the Ohio State football team dismantle Colorado. The game is at the Horseshoe in Columbus. There are 102,000 scarlet and grey clad fans cheering on the Buckeyes. It's not completely random that I'm spending my Saturday watching OSU-Colorado.
One of those 102,000 fans is our daughter Kierra. She is a Freshman at Ohio State and this is her first game at 'The Shoe".
It was exactly one week ago that we took Kierra to Ohio State. I have to tell you that I have been nervous. OSU is huge. It is the third biggest school in the nation. (Only Arizona State and Central Florida have more students.) I worry that she will get lost in the sea of 56,000 students. So far she is excelling. Her classes are off to a strong start. She has even decided to go out for the crew team.
I'm very proud of Kierra. She has not only become a beautiful young lady, she is also becoming a leader. I do wish my little leader was living closer to home. I keep telling myself that 450 miles or eight hours in the car isn't so bad. I'm proud of Kierra, but I miss her. I miss her bounce. I miss her energy. I miss her joy.
