Milwaukee County's Gang Of 10
A caller to today's program indicated that at least one Milwaukee County Supervisor - who voted earlier today for a 3.8% property tax levy increase - has now denied casting a "yes" vote. This is consistent with the position taken by several Supervisors who, when challenged about budget issues, simply tell their constituents that they "are misinformed" and must be "listeners of talk radio".
These constituents may be listeners of talk radio but they are rarely "misinformed". Normally, it's quite the opposite - the talk radio listeners are the ones who know precisely what County Board members are up to.
In any event, here's a News Release from the Milwaukee County Board listing the 10 Supervisors who voted in favor of both adopting the 2010 County Budget and the 2010 County Tax Levy increase. For the record, the "Gang of 10" consists of Supervisors Broderick, Clark, Coggs, Dimitrijevic, Johnson, Lipscomb, Mayo, Thomas, West and Holloway.
Look for Supervisors Larson, Weishan and perhaps Jursik to jump ship and join with the "Gang of 10" to try to override County Executive Walker's expected vetos. If you care about tax increases, be sure to contact your Supervisor and politiely let them know what you think.
