We're Number 9!
This really isn't a Top Ten List that we should be proud of.
Late last week, the Milwaukee Public School Board announced that it was going to raise the portion of the property tax that goes for the urban failure that is MPS by 14.6%! Next Tuesday voters in Milwaukee County will decide whether to raise the County sales tax by 1%. Statewide, voters will be deciding whether to elect Democratic majorities to the State Senate and Assembly which will virtually guarantee a huge increase in taxes and fees.
Oh yeah, we'll also be deciding whether to elect a guy as President who believes that we need to redistribute wealth from those who are successful to those who aren't!
Anyhow, USA Today has a story this morning ranking the states based on the "Combined state-local tax burden as a percentage of average household income". Hint: Lower is better.
So where does Wisconsin rank? We're number 9 with a combined state-local tax burden as a percentage of average income of 10.2%!
That's not good. Even scarier though is the fact that an increase of just .4% puts us into the Top Five.
Look out high-tax Hawaii, here comes Wisconsin!
