She's Still Hitting The Bottle! Who Would Have Guessed?
Sheboygan mom of the year candidate Angelique Vandeberg was released on a signature bond after being accused of shooting her 8 year old daughter in the leg with a BB gun. Vandeberg allegedly fired the shot to win a $1 bet with her boyfriend. In what should come as a surprise to no one, alcohol was involved.
For her part, Vandeberg says her daughter is making the entire incident up.
Regardless, as a condition of her release, Vandeberg was barred from consuming any alcohol. However telling Vandeberg not to drink is apparently akin to telling your dog not to bark when the doorbell rings. In other words, it ain't going to happen.
On Thursday, Vandeberg was pulled over by Sheboygan authorities. While her blood alcohol level was below the legal limit for intoxicated driving, she admitted to drinking vodka (in violation of the terms of her release). She was promptly re-arrested - and then subsequently re-released through the revolving door of the Sheboygan courthouse.
I don't know whether or not Vandeberg has an alcohol problem. I do know that her conduct shows that she's not taking the criminal charges against her seriously.
My experience is that this strategy typically doesn't work out too well for a defendant in a criminal case.
