The "Evil Mr. Rogers" Indeed

  • Print

The good folks at Talkers Magazine have kindly selected me as one of the 100 most influential talk show hosts in America for 2013.

Admittedly, I made the list at Number 96 (six spots below Al Sharpton).  However, this is a still a big deal for a recovering lawyer who gets to make a living doing a radio show in the town where he grew up.

First and foremost, I'd like to extend my sincere thanks to Talkers Magazine, my friends and colleagues at WTMJ who work so hard to make my program possible, our advertisers and most importantly, all those of you who are kind enough to listen to the show when the opportunity presents itself.

What's funny though is how I found out about this year's list.

I'm currently on vacation for a couple of days.  My friend Charlie Sykes sent me a congratulatory e-mail along with a link to a posting on a prominent Lefty web site.

Apparently I'm the "evil Mr. Rogers".  On the surface, "a calm, soothing, avuncular nice guy next door" who seemingly dispenses common sense and pearls of wisdom. Underneath the facade  though, I'm said to be just as much a tool of the Right Wing as any of my other colleagues in talk radio.  Since my style is not perceived as being as strident as some others however, I'm seen as more worrisome?

Whatever.

Wow, Talkers Magazine Heavy 100 and "Milwaukee Talk's Most Dangerous Propagandist" all at the same time.

I can't wait for Monday's show. It will be a good day in the neighborhood, boys and girls.
