1460 And Counting
The countdown for the lame duck Obama Presidency has started. 1460 days and counting.
For many of us who listened to the Inaugural Address, January of 2017 won't come soon enough.
Someone apparently forgot to tell the President that Bill Clinton had it correct: "It's the economy stupid!"
In his speech, Obama declined to discuss how he planned to get America back to work, reduce our crippling debt and/or figure out how to moderate our out of control spending. Instead, he talked about global warming, gay rights, gun control, immigration reform and protecting unsustainable entitlement spending.
So four years from now, we'll have universal gay marriage, limits on the size of ammunition clips and open borders. Of course, no one will want to come to the United States because there won't be any jobs for anyone and the country will be in economic turmoil like Greece is today. And no one - gay or straight - will be able to afford to get married or get old or get sick because there won't be enough "makers" left to pay for the "takers".
I recognize that the mainstream media continues to get a tingle down its collective leg whenever the President talks about an uber-liberal agenda for his second term. I also understand that some of the same folks view Obama's re-election as a political sea change indicating that the country has moved from center-right to left.
I don't see it that way.
Obamacare in 2009 led to Republicans re-taking the House of Representatives in 2010. If the President decides that pushing a hard -left agenda is important to his legacy, look for Republicans to retake the U.S. Senate in 2014 and the White House in 2016.
In the meantime, the countdown clock is running on the Obama Presidency. Is it 2017 yet?
