Here we go. The third preseason game is traditionally the dress rehearsal for the regular season and there has been much concern about the state of the Packers after two games. Here's a few things to look for Thursday night:

Welcome to the NFL The first at what will be many looks at the rookies and the first glimpse at how far they’ve come since mini camp. For guys like Nick Perry and Jerel Worthy it’s a chance to evaluate if they’re ready to contribute. Tonight is also the first look at several veterans who are new or will be in a new role in 2012. A few others to keep an eye on: MD Jennings and Jeff Saturday

Training camps open up throughout the NFL this week as the 2012 NFL season begins. For the Packers the biggest question is did the team do enough to address the defensive issues from 2011?

It's June 14 and the trade rumors can officially begin. After a sweep in Kansas City the question for the Brewers is are they buyers, sellers or neither? Sure it makes sense to trade Zack Greinke by the July trading deadline but doing so would contradict the team's desire to be competitive.

June is the make or break month for the Brewers. Despite the injuries, inconsistencies and constant lineup changes the Brewers are only 6 1/2 games out of first place. That's a deficit to be sure but certainly not insurmountable.

We've reached the dull part of the NFL offseason. Free agency and the draft are in the past, training camp is still more than two months away and there's only so much "news" that will come out of rookie mini camps and OTAs.

The NFL Draft is in the rear view mirror and already draft geeks around the world are looking ahead to 2013. But before we get into a Matt Barkley debate let's step back and look at what the Packers have accomplished this offseason.

Week 1: Washington at New Orleans The Redskins mortgaged the future to grab a franchise quarterback in the draft so this will likely be the debut of Robert Griffin III. It will also be the first look at the shorthanded Saints after the bounty hunting program came to light.

Bad news if you're a New York Yankees hater. Kentucky's win in Monday's national championship pretty much guarantees that the Yankees are destined to win the World Series this year.

We're one day into the NCAA Tournament and already madness is all around. Western Kentucky pulled off one of the all time great comebacks by erasing a 16 point deficit in the final five minutes. Comebacks are nothing new to the Hilltoppers who overcame second half double digit deficits twice in the Sun Belt tournament.

Power conference tournaments have begun and in all six major conferences there are bubbles that will burst over the next three days. Already it looks like Seton Hall is in trouble while other bubble teams like Texas, Oregon and Mississippi State face can't-lose games today. Here's my stab at the field as of Thursday afternoon:
