The 20 Days of Football: NFL Week 15
The NFL takes center stage on Day 2 of the 20 Days of Football. Three games today will go a long way in shaping the playoff race for the final two weeks.
The Packers hold the first wild card spot and will be in Pittsburgh today. The Steelers have lost five in a row but at 6-7 they are very much alive in the AFC wild card free-for-all. Green Bay cannot clinch a playoff spot today but a win coupled with a Giants loss tomorrow will deliver a playoff spot to the Packers.
After last night's win by Dallas the NFC East is up for grabs so there will be plenty of attention on the 49ers-Eagles game. Philadelphia leads Dallas by a half game and a loss would mean Dallas would take over as the division leaders. It's all setting up for an Eagles-Cowboys showdown in Week 17. San Francisco has a slim chance to make the playoffs either as a wild card or as the NFC West champion. The 49ers must win and get plenty of help.
The number two seed in the AFC is in play but the picture will be much clearer after division leaders Cincinnati and San Diego meet late this afternoon. Cincinnati clinches the AFC North with a win while San Diego takes the AFC West with a win or a Denver loss. The Chargers will also clinch the #2 seed with a win, a Denver loss or tie and a New England loss or tie.
Bowl Week rolls on with The R&L Carriers New Orleans Bowl between Southern Miss and Middle Tennessee. Look for a high scoring game here as both teams average more than 30 points per game. Southern Miss loves to use the Wildcat while Middle Tennessee runs a hurry-up no huddle offense that tries to score as fast as possible.
