Week 14 AFC playoff picture
In Need Of A Festivus Miracle
Buffalo Bills (4-8) Thanks to a weak AFC wild card field the 8-loss teams are hanging around. The Bills are slumping, having lost four of their last five, but they can get back in it with wins over Tampa Bay and Jacksonville.
Cleveland Browns (4-8) A home loss to Jacksonville should be automatic disqualification from any playoff talk. But it is the season of giving so the Browns stay in the playoff picture for now but the road ahead is brutal starting with a road contest against New England.
Oakland Raiders (4-8) At the very least the Raiders have been competitive, their last three losses have been by a combined 15 points. Of course, they're doing it all with Matt McGloin at quarterback but now it's crunch time and the Raiders have an elimination game against the Jets on tap.
In Need Of Help
New York Jets (5-7) The Jets are sliding with a three game losing streak and their offense has disappeared, mustering just six total points the last two weeks. However, a home win against Oakland will keep New York's playoff hopes alive.
Pittsburgh Steelers (5-7) Pittsburgh's Thanksgiving loss to Baltimore put a halt to a three game winning streak. The Steelers are in the thick of a crowded wild card however a win over Miami this week is a must as the Steelers currently lose out on the divisional tiebreaker to the Ravens.
Tennessee Titans (5-7) Last week's loss to Indianapolis put the Titans divisional hopes on life support. It doesn't get easier now with a road date against Denver followed by a home game against Arizona.
San Diego Chargers (5-7) At one point San Diego was 4-3 but they've lost four of their last five. They've been in every game but moral victories don't count in December. A home win against the Giants is needed.
Miami Dolphins (6-6) The Dolphins are back on track after last week's win over the Jets but they lose out on the head-to-head tiebreaker to Baltimore. This means Miami faces a huge matchup this week against Pittsburgh and help is needed to get ahead of the Ravens.
Controlling Their Destiny
Baltimore Ravens (6-6) Winners of three of their last four the Ravens are in control of the final playoff spot in the AFC and they get a soft home matchup against Minnesota this week.
Kansas City Chiefs (9-3) Remember when the Chiefs were 9-0? Three straight divisional losses, including a sweep by Denver means Kansas City is a game back of the Broncos and without the tiebreaker. However, down the stretch the Chiefs face just one team with a winning record and they can clinch a playoff spot with a win and a loss to either Baltimore or Miami.
Cincinnati Bengals (8-4) Cincy holds a two game lead over the Ravens in the AFC North but right in front of them is a matchup against Indianapolis with the number three seed at stake for now.
Indianapolis Colts (8-4) The Colts are firmly in control in the South and clinch the division with a win or a Tennessee loss.
New England Patriots (9-3) Like Indy, the Patriots are in charge and clinch the East with a win and a Miami loss. The Patriots can also clinch a playoff birth with a win and a Baltimore loss.
Denver Broncos (10-2) With the tiebreaker over Kansas City Denver can start thinking about making playoff plans. The Broncos can clinch a playoff birth with a win or a loss to either Baltimore or Miami.
