Packers-Lions: Three keys

  • Print

Third down conversions The Lions enter today with the #1 third down defense.  So the key here for the Packers is to get into manageable third down plays and then execute.  By moving the chains the Packers should be in for a big day offensively.

Bush & Bell With Calvin Johnson out the focus falls on Detroit's two dynamic running backs Reggie Bush and Joique Bell.  Not only are both good runners but they get involved in the passing game, combining for 29 receptions in the first four weeks.  However, the Lions now are looking are starting Kris Durham and Ryan Broyles at wide receiver.  So shutting down Bush & Bell should be easier today that first thought.

Pressuring Stafford In the previous two season Detroit's offensive line yielded 65 sacks.  However, so far this year the Lions have given up only three sacks.  As a result, quarterback Matthew Stafford is more accurate and has made less mistakes than previous years.  The Packers must exert consistent pressure on Stafford today.

Prediction Packers 34, Lions 24
