Packers-Rams: Three keys

  • Print

Quarterbacks Aaron Rodgers is expected to play at least a quarter but after that Mike McCarthy wants to see the other three backups in action.  Graham Harrell, Vince Young and B.J. Coleman all struggled last week.  Will we see any improvement this week?  Look for Young to see more than the 12 snaps he saw last week as he continues to get comfortable with the offense

Backup Watch After tonight the Packers will hold only six more training camp practices so this will be one of the few remaining chances for the backups to impress.  Guys like Ty Walker and Chris Banjo can further solidify their roster hopes with another good showing.  Others like Micah Hyde and D.J. Williams need a better performance than what we saw last week.

Up Front David Bakhtiari was impressive in his debut but now comes a tougher test considering the Rams defense tied with Denver for the most sacks.  Will Bakhtiari impress again?  Marshall Newhouse struggled at times last week so he's another player to watch.  Defensively, Green Bay will face one of the NFL's fastest teams and the Packers will need more push from the defensive line.  Last week the Packers looked good against the run but did not get much pressure on Arizona's quarterbacks.  With more pressure comes the opportunity to minimize explosive plays.
