Packers playmakers

  • Print

Two years ago I blogged about a stat that the New England Patriots created that kept track of defensive "playmaking."  It's a simple number that tallies sacks, forced fumbles, fumble recoveries and interceptions.  Of course, the number doesn't tell the whole story.  But in light of news today that Clay Matthews will miss a few weeks and with Charles Woodson missing considerable time the Packers will need a number of players to fill the void.  Here's how the playmaking numbers look through nine weeks (in order it goes sacks, interceptions, fumbles forced, fumbles recovered):

Clay Matthews 10 (9,0,1,0)

Casey Hayward 5 (0,4,1,0)

Charles Woodson 3.5 (1.5,1,1,0)

Morgan Burnett 3 (1,0,1,1)

C.J. Wilson 2.5 (2.5,0,0,0)

Tramon Williams 2 (0,2,0,0)

D.J. Smith 2 (2,0,0,0)

Jerel Worthy 2 (2,0,0,0)

Erik Walden 2 (1,1,0,0)

Mike Daniels 2 (2,0,0,0)

Nick Perry 2 (2,0,0,0)

Mike Neal 2 (2,0,0,0)

Brad Jones 2 (1,0,1,0)

Jerron McMillian 1 (0,1,0,0)

A.J. Hawk 1 (1,0,0,0)

Dezman Moses 1 (1,0,0,0)

Sam Shields 1 (0,1,0,0)
