Big, huge Thursday night
Tonight is what we like to call a Dinty Moore night. Grab yourself a can of stew, a few cold ones and be prepared for a vintage night of sports watching.
Week Six begins in the NFL with Pittsburgh at Tennessee. The Steelers are in the same boat as the Packers: good enough to be better than their record but struggling with injuries. The Steelers will be without Troy Polamalu and as I've indicated in the past, they are nowhere near the same team without him.
There's an American League playoff doubleheader tonight with the Detroit-Oakland game front and center. It's Game Five, winner-take-all and that means classic playoff baseball. The A's have had a tremendous run right up to last night's three run ninth inning that kept them alive for one more day. And for good measure the Tigers are throwing out ace Justin Verlander.
Don't forget about a trio of college football games tonight. Oh sure, Western Kentucky-Troy, Arizona State-Colorado and UTEP-Tulsa may not be on many people's radars but it serves as a prelude to another big college football Saturday.
And as a bonus FX features the season premiere of "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" and "The League", a must-watch for any fantasy football geek.
