New Orleans: The Center Of The Universe

  • Print

New Orleans is the place to be this weekend with two big games over a space of three days.  It begins tonight with the Lions-Saints NFC Wild Card in a game that will go a long way in shaping up the Super Bowl race.  The general thinking is New Orleans is the biggest threat to the Packers and a huge question will be can Detroit perform well in the spotlight?  So far the answer has been no.  Thus a Detroit win should be both a surprise and a relief to Packers fans.

Then on Monday night is the National Championship Game between LSU and Alabama played in New Orleans.  While the idea of a regular season rematch between two teams from the same division may sound lackluster the fact is these are the two best teams in football.  The regular season meeting was sloppy and I don't think this time around it will be as ugly.  There may even be a touchdown.  I'm leaning towards Alabama assuming the Tide has their kicking game in order.
