If you're still holding out hope that the St. Louis Cardinals can be stopped you're in some big trouble.  The last team to win Game 7 of the World Series on the road was the 1979 Pittsburgh Pirates.

That's right, the home team has won the last eight winner-take-all showdowns (making the All-Star Game rule even more lame.)  As if being one strike away wasn't bad enough (reminiscent of the '86 Boston Red Sox, also a road Game 7 loser) the Cardinals now get to throw out ace Chris Carpenter.  Carpenter is 3-0 in the postseason and has allowed just seven runs in his last 28 1/3 innings pitched.
