The Case For Keenum
If you're looking for a little Thursday night must-see TV other than the World Series may I suggest the Rice-Houston game on Fox Sports. The Cougars are unbeaten and ranked 17th in the recent BCS standings. With a little luck and a Boise State loss Houston might end up in the BCS picture.
But the real draw is quarterback Case Keenum. You may recall Keenum put up monster numbers in 2008 and 2009, setting him up for a Heisman Trophy bid. However, Keenum's 2010 campaign ended early with a torn ACL. Now Keenum is healthy and back to old form as the NCAA leader in passing yards. Just consider these numbers: Keenum is averaging more than 383 passing yards per game and has 23 touchdowns to only two interceptions. But don't be thinking that it's just chuck-and-duck football, Keenum has a completion rate of 72.9%
Now here's the best part: Rice enters the game ranked 96th in the nation in passing defense and 100th in scoring defense. Keenum might hit 300 yards by halftime. It could be a fireworks display in Houston and that's worth tuning in.
